Denver Zoo SEEING SPOTS OVER NEW BABY girafa!

Uma fêmea de girafa-reticulata nasceu no domingo de manhã (25/05/2003). Seu nome é Kala (Kaw-law). The arrival of Kala, who weighs 158 lbs., was much anticipated by zoo staff.
O Zoológico de Denver tem quatro girafas: Janie (f), Masika (f), Dikembe (m) e Kala (f).

OKAPI BORN IN DENVER ZOO (20/12/2003)
The female calf, “Baraka” (Bar-ah-kah, a Swahili word for “blessing”) was born on December 20, 2003 and is growing strong under the watchful eye of her mother “Karama”. The okapi (Okapia johnstoni) is a severely endangered species and is the only living relative of the giraffe. It is not known how many okapis exist in the wild and less than 150 animals survive worldwide in zoos.
